The main impersonator is holding his calls.
Mike Osman, 65, has acted as a Donald Trump impersonator for nearly nine years – but only since the former president’s victory in November. 5, the actor has not been able to book new gigs.
Even after Trump, 78, left the White House in 2021, the grandfather was still “constantly working” as his doppelganger – but now his phone is switched off.
“Thank you Donald for giving me another four years of the best job in the world,” Osman, from Southampton, UK, told What’s The Jam. “I had to turn off the phone, he hasn’t stopped envying me.”
Osmani, who is regarded as the UK’s best Trump impersonator, said he had woken up to the election results, and within an hour he already had five new job offers.
“I had no doubt in my mind that Trump was going to win, everyone claims to hate him, but I know the world loves him,” he said.
When he dresses up to play the Trump double, he dons a nearly $3,500 (£2,700) wig and body fat suit, then ends up with an orange flush on his face. Osmani has also mastered Trump’s voice.
He has appeared on TV shows such as UK Channel 4’s The Last Leg and does corporate gigs as well as custom videos available for purchase.
Osman believes Trump may have seen his work, saying “he’s the type of guy who watches what’s being said about him online.”
He added that Nigel Farage, a British politician and Member of Parliament (MP), has seen him perform “a few times” before, adding, “I think he must have told Trump about it.”
Osmani also believes he received a phone call from the president-elect earlier.
“I’m sure I got a call from Donald Trump late one night — it was a Washington number,” he said. “I tried to call again in the morning but it didn’t go through, I have a feeling it was him on the line.”
In addition to endless phone calls, Osmani has also received many congratulations.
“People congratulated me as if I were the new president. “When I’ve been out in public and Trump’s people have flocked to me to take pictures — it’s like being Mickey Mouse at Disney World sometimes,” he said.
“I was even asked to leave a pub by a regular who thought I was the man himself,” said Osman. “I’m so stoked he’s back, it’s the best job I’ve ever done – it’s been an absolute joy.”
